Hi!
This is a blog for my African American studies class called “The Sunken Place: Racism, Survival & the Black Horror Aesthetic”. I will be writing about the content we see or read in-lecture or at home, for personal and/or credit purposes.
In terms of personal introductions, my name is Sana, and I am a sophomore mechanical engineering student at UCLA . As much as I am an engineering student, I love learning about the arts and humanities because I love to talk to and understand people, and especially enjoy literature and films which serve as an allegory to society (shoutout to my literature teachers in highschool who sparked my passion). So, as soon as I saw this class listing, I jumped at the opportunity. I hope to learn a lot about Black culture and history, as well as challenging any ideas or opinions that I may have, through this class. So, please, enjoy your stay here!
